The Challenge
A family office managing multiple properties wanted their new 15,000 sq ft Hinsdale residence to showcase the absolute pinnacle of smart home technology—without visible technology. The architect demanded concealed infrastructure, the builder required coordination with 23 trades, and the family needed enterprise-grade reliability with hospitality-level user experience. Traditional smart home integrators proposed surface-mounted solutions that compromised the architectural vision.
Our Solution
SilverGate embedded with the project team from schematic design phase. We collaborated directly with architects to route conduit within walls during framing, specified custom millwork for equipment concealment, and coordinated with electrical, HVAC, and low-voltage contractors to ensure clean integration. Our scope included: invisible motorized shades integrated into window headers, in-wall speakers with zero visual impact, under-cabinet task lighting with no visible fixtures, and a centralized equipment room designed for serviceability. We deployed Savant scenes that match the home's daily rhythms—"Morning Energize" gradually increases natural light simulation and adjusts climate, while "Evening Unwind" dims lighting, closes shades, and queues ambient audio.
